Tomorrow is my first half marathon and I’m no where near physically or mentally ready for it. Could I have prepared better? Absolutely but I didn’t. So here I am. My heaviest that I will finish 13.1 miles–a challenge in and of itself. But I’m going to do it. Slower but still 13.1 miles.
Truthfully, I wasn’t planning on even registering for this race even though I’ve done it every year since it started. Yup, I was going to risk/drop my legacy status. But then I saw a new course and the option to fundraise for St Jude so here I am–on the train to go to the race expo.
So what now? Well simple. Go take it one step at a time. Listen to my body not my pacing app. Time isn’t of importance this time. Finishing and finishing without physical ailments is my goal. I want to enjoy the new course and it’s amenities, the finish line festival and the rest of my Sunday after I get home and shower.
So….ready or not, I have an early pre crack of dawn wake up and 13.1 miles in between me and the finish line/medal.
